dataTV and Jason Marsalis first worked together in the late 1990’s when Jason was part of Basin Street Records‘ Grammy-nominated recording artists, Los Hombres Calientes. After the band broke up, Jason ventured on his own and also helped out with his father’s label, ELM Records, run by the iconic Ellis Marsalis.

In 2004, Jason’s site debuted featuring a Flash-based user interface. As Flash’s popularity started to head downward, Jason adapted and created a new site for his Basin Street/ELM release, “A World of Mallets”. Like dataTV had done in the past for other musicians, the new site was branded to reflect the design of the CD. With his 2014 release, “21st Century Trad Band”, the site was redesigned again to reflect the look of the CD.

Jason and dataTV have had a warm and respectful relationship for well over a decade and will continue to produce new content as the years (and music releases) progress.

A redesign of Ellis’ site is planned for later in 2015.
