Basin Street Records and dataTV have been intertwined about as long as the two companies have been in business. dataTV first started designing for the New Orleans record label in the summer of 1998. In 2002, Basin Street earned a Macromedia Site of the Day Award for its’ innovative Flash-based website tying in a database to provide tour information, audio, video and the ability to order music directly from a unique user interface.

Fast forward to 2011 and things have changed drastically. Flash was on its’ way out and Mobile friendly design was in. Basin Street knew it had to change with the times, but they wanted a long range plan to keep providing innovative content while being able to update the look of the site without going to great expense.

With that in mind, dataTV switched to the open-source WordPress Content Management System with unique features to allow not just the ability to add content, but to add content in specific spaces in the back-end that would reflect in certain spots on the web pages.

Basin Street continues to produce some of the best original Louisiana music, while being able to easily update the website themselves. A major cost savings. The label is poised to continue to provide its’ Grammy winning music online to a global audience for many years to come and dataTV will continue to be a part of it.
